I think you have to look at what has changed in Van Ness over the past few years:
1) A proactive ANC that
2) created the Main Street
3) a new, supported residential building with hundreds of units
4) a focus on maximizing the proximity of the Metro (to wit the opposition to the 2 story now vacant Walgreens building;
5) The addition of WAMU
6) Enhanced investment in UDC
This is just the tip of the iceberg, but this is a neighborhood that has been proactive in changing its face to one that GreaterGreaterWashington readers tend to support.
