At least one person spoke of organizing a boycott. That was well before CFA even said that it wanted to retain the driveway."

Sure, for a few people on the internet. On the other hand, those people have mostly been shut down pretty quickly in those comment threads and at ANC meetings, etc. The criticism of the drive thru stands on its own.

"So the opposition to a restaurant that is part of an immensely popular and successful national chain is very disappointing to me. If the price we have to pay for CFA immediately taking over the BK site is a few more cars turning on Connecticut Ave, I'll take that rather than yet another closed storefront."

False dichotomy, understated cost, and overstated value.
